Well, thanks, that is unfortunate. The computer is, I believe, out of warranty :(

So, is it worth replacing the motherboard? What does it cost to get something like this repaired?

    1. Yeah. Did you take the time to do the test I suggested?

Have you examined and blown-out the ports, and make sure nothing is stuck in there?

Have you tried un-plugging the front ports from the motherboard? You could do-without those.

    2. I would make sure. Also, see if the credit-card you bought it with might have extended the warranty.

    3. It depends. Are you ready for a new one yet?

    4. Doing the work yourself or paying someone-else? Ever swapped a motherboard before?

Here's it's little brother ... he just decided to die completely.

    Thanks!!!

I suggest you un-plug all USB devices and use a different keyboard and mouse.

If it still does it, call Dell if under extended warranty. They will get you fixed-up.

If out-of-warranty, I think you need a new motherboard. You can try Dell Parts or eBay :TongueTied:  (shudder)

Ha, thanks. Good info. I used to build computers in the day...loved it.
I did not unplug the board yet. Got a motherboard from ebay...160 bucks. Lets see if that works. Cross your fingers!
Yes, would love a new one but too costly at this point.
