Hi! ! I'm using Alienware 13 R2 and I wonder if there is a mode where it automatically draw energy straight from the brick when the battery hits 100%? I constantly keep my battery plugged in, but I take my laptop out sometimes. The fact that it charges a little when losing a little energy constantly made my old battery swollen! So I'm just asking if there is any other way than manually disconnecting the battery!
Hi @adnan alienware welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Alienware laptops are designed for high performance and get hot. The rechargeable battery's chemistry degradation increases with elevated temperatures. Small increments of charging to Fully charged (100%) does not induce swollen battery. Normal battery chemistry and batches that give swollen Lithium-ion batteries is not fully understood. You can ask if a particular Dell OEM battery batch is acknowledged to become swollen. During the first year of Dell warranty, there is free battery replacement and laptop parts that were damaged.
