17 R3, battery not recognized after replacement

Purchased my 2nd battery replacement when previous replacement started to drain almost instantly while plugged in, replacement lasted about 2-3 years so figured time for a new one, Well after a month after purchase from delllaptopbattery.us. Anyhow did the replacement as before however this time on bootup received the error message battery not recognized and will not charge something to that effect, also noticed fans suddenly stopped working, so running those in debug enabled mode so computer won't overheat and crash, tried the bios thing, no difference, ran support assit only shows battery failed, Anyone run into this if so any other solution that does not involve slamming the computer against a brick wall. Any help would be appreciated

thanks

Hi @WarlockCorei   welcome to this user to user forum. This is not Dell Support.

Please disconnect the main battery (do not remove), then plug in the ac adapter and start the system in normal mode. This is to check if the replacement battery is the source of the fan problem. Using the laptop without main battery connected (as a desktop) does not damage the laptop, provided it does not have a fault.

Please look at the battery plug and socket under a bright light to check that connector engagement is normal. Replacement batteries should be purchased from a vendor that provides and certifies that they are an OEM Dell replacement battery, such as PartsPeople, etc. Lithium-ion chemistry continues to degrade battery performance when in storage. Upon receipt, get Battery Report to check that the replacement battery manufacture date is recent and performing as required.

If the replacement battery is determined to be dead on arrival, it should be rejected as being not fit for purpose.

    Hey

Thanks again for replying, I took the steps which you provided and unfortunately it does appear that the replacement battery is the cause, In fact I actually removed and re installed the old one and the fans and system are functioning normally, So looks like the new battery is faulty and most likely even though it has an alienware logo printed on it, it's either just defective or as I am now begining to suspect a counterfeit battery ( I suspect this only because the type of responses from the vendor) trying to get a return and refund on this, however considering it took almost a month after ordering to actually receive the battery which I thought I was purchasing from dell as this is where I was directed from the Dell website https://www.delllaptopbattery.us/alienware-17-r3-battery-dell.htm

Anyhow thanks again for the help, highly appreciated
