17 R4, performance issues, lagging, Nvidia driver

Hello, below are my computer stats.

I have problems with performance. The warranty expired in November 2018. I cleaned it all uploaded Dell drivers but it won’t open the Nvidia GeForce tab and let me log in to update my graphic card driver.

Second, when I play a game it doesn’t work well. It takes time to load, lags really often, can’t even open Google Chrome without lagging and taking way too much time.

Hi @Tilexxe1998  welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Windows 10 capture of images from the screen can be undertaken by pressing the three key combination of shift+windows+s to open the Snip Tool in top middle of screen. Hover cursor over icons for its function description to appear, then click on one of the icon options. Use the blue square and cursor to box image with cursor and capture a small part of the screen. Have a play, to understand what the Snip options give as the image capture. The result will appear in Notifications, click on result to save image or ignore if not wanted. Windows 10 Snip does not work when looking at the BIOS screen, then taking a photograph is required to capture the screen image.

    Full-Screen Snip.jpg

Start laptop and wait 10 minutes having opened nothing. To try and understand performance issues, right click on taskbar at bottom of screen and open Task Manager. CPU process should be no more than about 4%, then click on and open Task Manager - Details tab. Click on top of the CPU column to get the busy process at the top, usually System Idle Process is then placed as the first entry and has a very high value.

If System Idle Process is not at the top with high CPU value, look at what is very busy using the CPU. Taking and sharing Snip of image will help users understand and respond to problem.

Then open and run your game, open Task Manager - Details to look at the most busy CPU process, take Snip of image and share in your next post. Thank you.

Please click on Kudos to say thank you for response from another user. Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Tilexxe1998

Try these steps to see if system performance improves.

    https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/INSPIRON-15-3567-programs-take-ages-to-initiate/m-p/7440154#M70660

After completing you could also try to open an Administrative Command prompt and do a:

    chkdsk c:/f

Then reboot and let chkdsk run.

    Best regards,

    U2
