Alienware 17 R4 battery charging issues

Hello everybody..I am posting this because after several months researching and doing everything the internet has to offer from updating BIOS, uninstalling the MS acpi compliant control method battery and the MS AC adaptor drivers, restarting, disconnecting battery, plugging power in/out then turning on/off, doing a cartwheel and picking my nose, nothing worked.
I have replaced the battery several months ago due to it growing and threatening to explode.

The only thing I need to do to fix my U$D3000 odd laptop not to mention replacing the original drives with Samsung 970 ssd and a seagate 2.5” ssd, upgraded the original ram to 32gb of Corsair vengeance..a decent amount of upgrades for the frikin power to have an issue.

I purchased this with the upgraded 240w original Dell psu from new also.

So after all this the only thing to replace is the power port itself or the mainboard.

I got the compressor out and blew any dust out of it…

(I do this every few months as maintenance) wriggled the power plug in as far as I could push it wriggling it in with all the power of the finest nasi goreng and it starts charging.

Really happy about this as I’m a network engineer and was about to have a self worth insecure meltdown.

So it turns out it’s the port that’s not seating it connecting properly the same as the Ethernet port with is as loose as Crystal on New Year’s eve.

Anyway I hope this story helped someone and makes you feel a little better that it’s not us, it’s Dell’s shoddy made in China quality ports.

The end.
