Area-51m, expanding hard drives, memory
Hello!
I have ordered my second Alienware area 51m, the first one had a burnout issue.
This time I chose a smaller NVMe M2 SSD, only 128gb. I intend to purchase and install another one by myself.
Is the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB compatible? Do I need to buy a special heatsink from Dell or can I use any industry standard one? If I need to order it from Dell, how do I do it?
I would appreciate an official answer as well as any community feedback.

The 970 should be compatible however the 970 has given some users problems. There are posts from users that could not get it to work with their systems while others had no problem. It seems to be hit and miss with the 970. There is not a special heatsink so one you may buy from Amazon for instance should be fine. You can order from Dell but that SSD can also be ordered from a number of other sources such as Newegg, Amazon, etc. If ordering from Dell the advantage is that Dell will warranty parts purchased from Dell.

2666 RAM will work and make sure you do not mix 2400 with 2666 for the best compatibility. If you add the 32 GB with 8 the RAM will not run in dual channel as all the RAM must be the same. Also 40 GB is not a supported configuration as per the support page. For the best RAM compatibility try Crucial. The following page should help.

Hello,
I buy Area-51m and I try to install my EVO 840. But I cant make it read, not in the BIOS, not as USB. When I plug to the lap the 840 and attach the original hybrid drive of Alienware as USB, I run as safe mode and I can read the EVO 840. I want the EVO 840 as my primary hard drive and reinstall Windows. In my BIOS 1.5.4 I set not raid on, UEFI. But in the BIOS do not find legacy. What I should do?

Hello!
I have ordered my second Alienware Area 51m and it is set to arrive in early July. (the first one burnt out after 3 days of usage)
This time I ordered only 2x4gb DDR4 2666Mhz of RAM as it was really expensive to upgrade it and I can do it a lot cheaper on my own.
The question I have is which memorysticks are compatible? I know it says 2400Mhz on most options but on my order confirmation it says 2666Mhz. Does this mean I can buy 2666Mhz and stick them in? I intend to buy 2x16gb, do I need to throw the other ones out or can I leave them in for a total of 40gb RAM?
Regarding manufacturing brands I remember reading somewhere that it should be Toshiba, Kingston or Samsung. Why is this? These are not common brands in Sweden and hard to get hold of. Which CL does it need to be?
Would greatly appreciate an official answer.
