m15 R5, backlit problem
I think there is a major problem with Alienware Control Center.
There are two problems
1. F7 key is used to toggle the backlit brightness (off, dim, full brightness). With Alienware Control Center installed, I can only toggle on (full brightness) or off, no between (dim is no longer available). Dim can only be manually selected in the FX Controller.
2. I do not have any backlit theme saved for any game application. Whenever I play a game, it sets the entire backlit keyboard to white color on full brightness.
Above problems disappear when I remove the Alien Control Center; however, without the application, I am stuck to the default "teal" color.
I tried with the previous AWCC version, no luck.
Hi @TKEVO thank you for sharing updates. There were a number of steps to try. If nothing worked, it seems there is no Dell warranty assistance, and you are stuck with what AWCC has provided.
Not sure if this system's BIOS has keyboard backlit enable option. Most Models with AWCC have BIOS track pad backlit enable option. Toggling these BIOS settings' options off, Restart (not shut down), toggling these options on, sometimes resets these options back to default.

if you purchased the individual key lighting you can dim both the backlight of specific keys and all of the keyboard but if you have the base one there are 4 zones I think for the backlight in the keyboard. Also install the latest version of the command center for your specific Alienware laptop as installing an older version might not have all the features in it.

You could also try the FN keys to see if they adjust brightness manually.

Hi @TKEVO welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
What operating system is installed? Windows 11 x64 or one of the many versions of Windows 10 x64, most recent being version 21H1, with 21H2 to arrive during 2021?
Support for Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5, Drivers & Downloads, provides AWCC and OC Controls updates. Always uninstall these Dell updates using Revo Uninstaller Free and then its Advanced Scan to remove all the multiple files, folders, and/or Registry entries left on your system. Restart (not Shut Down).
Then manually download and install AWCC update as if for the first time. AWCC should install OC Controls and AlienFX 2.0 for you. There is no Dell AlienFX 2.0 troubleshoot diagnostic.
The Dell AWCC application is not standalone and conflicts/incompatibility problems with Windows Update are regularly encountered. Dell Technical Support are supposedly working to fix these problems.
Sometimes the fix is to install the Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One Download from TechPowerUp.
If that does not work, use Revo Uninstaller and install the AWCC old version that was working.
If that does not work, you join the many unhappy customers/users that are very disappointed. If still in warranty, use online Dell account to ask Dell Support to create Service Request for you, so that Dell knows there is a problem to fix. Dell Support should remotely install the 'missing' AWCC files for you.
