Is there anything special I need to do besides setup mcserver.xml and configure and enable the high priority events profile to setup email home after the install? When I orginally did the install I used the --noconnectemc during the install. So is there more i have to do besides the 2 tasks in the install doc I described above besides letting the Avamar server relay through the exchange server?
Just to be clear, there are two different ways which an Avamar system uses to 'phone home' and provide EMC information about its status.
1) Email Home
This is the traditional method used by Avamar to report home. This functionality is managed by the Avamar Administrator console and sends emails to EMC twice daily. It provides a huge amount of assistance to support if they need to diagnose an issue with your Avamar server. Configuration of EmailHome occurs after installation and as you have found, the instructions to do this are in the Installation Guide in the section Configure and Enable the "Email Home" feature
2) Dial Home
This is configured through connectemc which runs as a Linux service on Avamar.
ConnectEMC will immediately EMC notify of note-worthy events and if appropriate will cause a service request to be opened and routed to the technical support team. If you didn't configure this during installation you can use the Installation guide section Configuring ConnectEMC after the Installation.
ConnectEMC complements and does not replace the traditional Email Home functionality.
Once you've configured both of these and verified that your SMTP server is forwarding the messages you may want to create a chat service request to confirm that they are being successfully received by EMC.

Hello Dwilk,
You should be all set to use the Email Home feature after setting up mcserver.xml and configuring and enabling the high priority events profile.
Thanks,
Sandeep.
