iSCSI and AIX issue

I have set up several iSCSI targets for Microsoft hosts with no problems. However, using the same target and making the appropriate changes to LUN masking, I cannot get a connection from any of my IBM hosts running AIX 5.3. I've tried all the combinations of iqn numbers, IP's, port numbers, etc that I can find; I've even tried reading the EMC and IBM docs I can get hold of but still cannot get a connection made. I get a Celerra server_log to indicate we are sending an iSCSI request but the connection isn't made and the LUN is not available.

I suspect there may be an initiator driver, like the Microsoft iSCSI client, that needs to be loaded or configured.

If anyone has experience or thoughts to help us out, please respond.

TIA

Thats is because AIX ISCSI is not supported right now. AIX is using some ISCSI protocol variations that arent implemented.

If you talk to your EMC SE he can tell you when its scheduled to be supported.

    OK, that would do it!

Is the unsupported status an EMC or IBM issue? Who is likely to come up with a mod to make iSCSI work with AIX?

    Thanks for the response.

EMC is going to implement this in a future release of DART

I dont know who's issue it is - I'm not an ISCSI expert. Sufficient to say that IBM uses something in their ISCSI initiator that none of the other OS's is - so I've been told.

you can get the list of supported ISCSI clients by going through Elab Navigator, available here on Powerlink.
