Map a CIFS share from Celerra Simulator

Hi,

I have installed celerra simulator, create CIFS server, file system and share. When I try to map it on another windows server (in same subnet) I get "unexpected network error" message and mapping fails. Is it possible at all to map share from the simulator? What am I missing?

Thanks!

Hi Ivan - this community is for certification questions, so we should move your question. Trying to figure out the best place to move it - are you a Proven Professional?

Hi - no worries again. I wanted to make sure if I moved it to the Proven Professionals ONLY community, you'd still have access to it. But since you aren't a Proven Professional (yet! ) we should probably get it moved to Celerra Support forum...

Stand by, I'll see about moving it.

    Hi Gina,

You may move this thread to the Celerra Support Forum in the ECN - https://community.emc.com/community/support/celerra

I can try to answer the question, but there will be more responses in the Celerra Support forum.

    Thanks,
    Sandip

is the CIFS server joined to AD or stand alone ? Does the time/date on datamover matches time/date on your domain controller ?

Yes I get the prompt for user name and password. I tried root/nasadmin and nasadmin/nasadmin – no one is working. Both accounts are active on the simulator.

i don't think the date matters in non-AD environment. So when you type \\CIFS_Servername\share name  ..do you even get prompted for a password or anything ?

CIFS server is not joint to the domain. I am not sure about the date, does it matter?

You need to change it once for it to work.   On a workstation which can ping the CIFS Server, Use Clt+Alt+Del => Click change password=> username=administrator, and  put the IP address of the CIFS Server (in logon to), and change the password for administrator from the one which you gave at the time of creation.  This is one time activity for StandAlone CIFS Server.

    Thanks
