you mean renaming a directory that was created by treequota command ? If yes, you can simply rename that directory while treequota settings will remain intact.
should be no problem. We pre-create treequota directories with generic names, so whenever we have new employees join our company, windows admins simply rename generic directory name to users name. Treequota settings are tracked based on treeid ..so even if the directory name changed, quota settings follow the id.
i tried renaming the folder like a windows folder, now, in the gui, i can't see anymore the path, the status and the hard limit. (all fileds are empty)
In the quota list the name still appears like the old name.
Just rename it from Windows like you would rename any directory
The Celerra itself doesn’t care about the name – it tracks it via tree id’s
That’s actually to a neat trick to save some work – create a couple of spare treequota of the desired size and your Windows admins can rename and use them without having to access the Celerra CLI or GUI
when i do a rename of the folder pointed by quota...Unisphere stops showing the correct data about quota...i don`t know if is necesary to wait many minutos to became working fine. I undo the change to avoid problems...appears to be an unsupported action renaming the quota folder.
Renaming a treequota is supported – you can even just rename the treequota dir from CIFS or NFS and it will work fine.
It’s possible that UniSphere needs to refresh or re-query to show the correct name – but that doesn’t impact the working of treequotas and file access.
Internally the system doesn’t use the name – it uses the treeid which never changes when you rename it
