When attempting to create a new iSCSI replication session using Replicator V2 with a source LUN that is virtually provisioned (and destination read-only LUN that is also virtually provisioned), I always get the following error in the Celerra Manager:
There are no read-only destination iSCSI LUNs available of the same size as the selected source iSCSI LUN.
However, when I verify the *exact* size of the LUNs on both the source and destination systems via
server_iscsi server_2 -lun -list, both sides report the exact same LUN size of 409600 MB.
When I verify that the source is read-write and the destination is read-only, using
server_iscsi server_2 -lun -info 2 -target iscsi1, everything looks great (source is read-write, destination is read-only).
Both source and destination are also listed as "
virtually_provisioned".
I tried using the New Replication Wizard, as well as the usual "Replications" tab in the Celerra Manager GUI, but both ways result in the exact same error.
Note that this error does *not* occur for any of my other iSCSI LUN replication sessions, which use fully-provisioned iSCSI LUNs.
Then, just to see if this was a GUI error, I switched to the CLI and issued the necessary command to create the iSCSI replication session:
And that worked perfectly! The GUI even shows the new replication sessions. I am assuming this is a GUI bug with respect to creating replication sessions of virtually provisioned LUNs. Can someone confirm? I'd like to let the customer know whether they truly need to use the CLI for future iSCSI LUN replication sessions or whether they can use the GUI in a future version of DART.
Source Celerra is on DART 5.6.42 and destination is on 5.6.41.
I believe it is a known issue that currently the GUI doesnt let you select a virtually provisioned ISCSI LUN as a replication target.
Please open a service request so that either a new bug can be opened or it gets associated to an existing one. You can then ask support about an estimate for a fix
