I am almost certain it is an immutable id. I also took a quick glance at the "EMC® SnapView™ Command Line Interface (CLI) Reference" available from the following breadcrumb trail on PowerLink:
Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ S ~ Documentation > SnapView > Maintenance/Administration
Various searches came up short. For instance, if this was possible, it would likely be an option at the time the clone was added. The navi(sec)cli command "clone | snapview -addclone" doesn't list such functionality.
However, you can exploit the fact that multiple clones as they are added to the clone group get auto-assigned sequentially starting at 0100000000000000, as you've already witnessed, and increments by 1. Therefore, using a (temporary) LUN as a placeholder:
1) Add a (temporary) placeholder LUN
- Would obviously make sense to forgo the default selection of "Initial sync is required".
- This clone would be assigned: 0100000000000000
2) Add the LUN(s) you want to ultimately retain as the clonegroup member
- This clone would be assigned: 0200000000000000
3) Remove the first LUN effectively accomplishing what you require
The only thing you would require is having enough space for an equal sized LUN even though it is temporary.
