1) Please ensure all the hosts connected to the CX500 is running Multi-pathing software and it is working properly 2) Please ensure all the hosts are configured and zoned for multiple paths to the LUN utilizing both the SPs - in other words, please ensure each host can access both SPA & SPB 3) Ensure there is no other issues or faults on this array 4) Select a suitable time period where the IO activity level is the minimum - preferably under 50% 5) Disable Write cache on the SPs - this may take a while depending on how much write cache information is required to be flushed 6) Select the SP - right click on it and choose Reboot. Depending on the Flare Code level running on this array - you may need to go to the Engineering mode for doing so 7) All the LUNs owned by this SP will be trespassed to the other SP at this time. Ensure that the hosts are working properly. 8) Wait for the SP to come back online - check the event log for both the SPs to ensure the same and also to confirm no other issue 9) Enable Write cache
However, if you can afford to arrange for the downtime - you may consider shutting down all the hosts before doing so - although not needed if powerpath or any multi-pathing software is working properly.
If you are planning to reboot both the SPs - do it one by one.
Hope this helps, others may provide more valuable comments and also correct me if needed. Regards, Sandip
