Our apologies. Dell would not call you unsolicited. The only time we would contact you would be through the DellConnect software or the Dell Support Center software. But only after you agreed to this within the software. We are aware of the problem and have notified our Dell Securities team about the scammer attacks. That is not a Dell email address nor phone number. Read this.
Just my guess, but having spoken to a few people who recently called Dell for tech support, and then received a call a few weeks later from a scammer, I suspect that Dell has had some kind of data breach. It could be a large scale breach caused by hackers intruding into their information system databases, or something as low tech as personnel in their call centers selling lists of customer information to scammers for profit.
Less than a month after calling Alienware support, a scammer called me who knew not just my phone number, but my name and address. This wasn't a cold call - it was targeted.
