Potentially misleading orders

Hi - I ordered an Alienware 15 laptop in late December. Its ETA was January 10th (a week ago). I understand there can be delays especially around the holiday season, however when I questioned Support to get an updated ETA I received some disturbing news.

They claim the laptop is delayed because of "parts shortage". But this contradicts Dell's order progress page, which reported the "build complete" after 1 day, then "in transit / shipping" for the next 3 weeks.

This might be a problem because its essentially misleading the consumer... and my country (New Zealand) has strict laws against this which are enforced by the Commerce Commission. Again its not the delay that is the problem - its the fact that either the support agent has made false claims or the shipping progress form gives misinformation about build completion.

    Potentially?  You mean intentionally.

I ordered the Water cooled Inspiron 5675 with Ryzen 7 and Radeon 580 on 12/11.  It was supposed to be delivered 12/29 then 01/12 then 01/19 now showing 01/26.  Order Support is saying they won't have the video cards until 02/01.
