So just to understand, are you trying to set the format preference for email alert in OME? If yes, then this is not supported in OME. Because once you configure an email alert, the notification will be sent in pre-defined format which can't be edited from OME.
I'm having the exact same issue. I want to split up each item in the alert (e.g. date, IP) with carriage returns. In OME 1.3 it formatted correctly, with one below the other. Having just upgraded to 2.01, my e-mail alerts now have everything bunched together. Why did it work in 1.3 and not in 2.01?
Try adding carriage returns in the e-mail alert settings when you create the message. Mine are now being formatted correctly like this:
Device:
IP:
Service Tag:
Asset Tag:
Date:
Time:
Severity:
Message:
Mine didn't work after I initially configured the e-mail alert, but it's working now. If it doesn't work for you try editing and redoing the settings again.
Which version of OME are you running? How is your message set out? I am running OME 2.0.1.2222 and my message is as follows:
Device:$n
IP:$ip
Service Tag:$st
Asset Tag:$at
Date:$d
Time:$t
Severity:$sev
Message:$m
There is a single space at the end of each line. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. If it doesn't work the first time, try re-editing the message, making changes so you have carriage returns and spaces, then save it and wait a couple of hours. When I immediately did a test e-mail it didn't display as I wanted it, but a few hours later I got an alert and it was formatted correctly.
Options: -H Set the SNMP Host Address for the sender. -T Set the recipients email address. Multiple email addresses can be added using ';' (without spaces)
-F Set the Sender's email address. -S Set the Subject Line of the mail. -B Set the Body of the mail. -C Set contents of the mail as HTML or plain text. Y/N -? Help regarding parameters.
So, we can use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to edit OME database, add this parameter after your email message.
You can find your stored action in table "dbo.EventStoredAction" of database "OMEssentials".
Just edit "CmdLineArguments" column
For example:
-t "yourname@youname.com" -f "alert@yourname.com" -s "This is alert" -b "

Hi Ranveer,
Thanks for your reply.
Since the information is quite messy, I want to add some line feeds into them.
If there is no way to do so, then just keep it in default format. No worries.
Thanks again for your information.
Cheers,
Rocky
