Open Manage Essentials - DB configuration
Hello
I was wondering if it would be possible to make a recommendation as to the Page Verification setting within the default Open Manage Essentials database configuration. Out of the box this configuration setting is set to None, this is not a good practice with regards to SQL Server databases and maintaining integrity. Ideally on 2005 and above this should be set to CHECKSUM. I have monitoring that picked up this issue, however in some smaller shops this might not be picked up and could cause issues further down the line.
There is an interesting article on the SQL Server Storage Engine Blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlserverstorageengine/archive/2006/06/29/enabling-checksum-in-sql2005.aspx) that provides more detail on this matter.
The issue could be fixed either with explicit configuration during deployment or by using the configuration found in the Model database when the deployment takes place.
Many thanks
John
