i want to know, how many devices can be managed with openmanage essentials without paying for aditional licenses?, a partner told me you only can manage 10, after 10, you need to pay aditional licenses
OME is free for monitoring...regardless of the number of devices.
There is an upsell component that involves a special iDRAC license. But that is only if you want to use it for configuring settings on servers remotely.
You might be thinking of OpenManage Network Manager...that's a tool for managing switches and such.
Right, OME is free unless customers want to use the server configuration features (described in the top of delltechcenter.com/ome). To use the server config stuff they need an iDrac enterprise license _with_ the OME option attached to it. I forget what the specific name is. Let me know on the internal email group if you need more background.
To receive email alerts, a SMTP server is required. So, while creating an email alert action task in OME you would need to provided the SMTP settings(server name\ip address), which will enable OME to send email alerts.
Or you can also configure SMTP settings from "Settings > Email Settings".
Licensing OpenManage Essentials “Server Configuration Management”: OpenManage Essentials (OME) is available as a free software download.
