Hi All, i am having an issue adding a PS group to VSM V4.5.2. When i try and add the PS group i get an error stating "unable to add PS Series Group. The Ip address 172.16.200.248 Is not a valid group IP or Hostname"
Currently, the Group IP is on theiSCSI Network which is isolated and un-routable. I have a dedicated management interface setup on the management network for the PS Array, and the VSM appliance is also on the same management network.
So i guess the question is...Can i use the management IP Address to add the PS Group. Of not, what are my options without having to change the Group IP to a management IP address, as this IP address is used for static discovery for the ISCSI initiators.
an EQL setup which use the dedic. MGMT Network have 2 Group IPs. One in each Network.
If you have SANHQ up and running it should also connect to the MGMT IP rather than the iSCSI Group IP. Also when you use your GroupMgr or SSH you connect to the MGMT Network.
The iSCSI GroupIP (WKA) is 172.22.149.170 and our dedicated mgmt is 172.22.150.170. All of my Stuff is placed in the 172.22.150/24 subnet and VSM, SANHQ, SYSLOG and so on can reach the 172.22.150.170 wihout ot the need of a gateway/router.
Can you place an Windows/Linux VM on the same ESXi and VM Portgroup where you would like to run the VSM?. Choose an IP out of your MGMT Subnet and try to ping the MGMT Group IP.
In the VSM setup use the IP Adress rather than the Group name or a FQHN.

There is nothing special with VSM.
