PS6000 e HDD Failed.... Need to replace the faulty HDD with Same or diff.?
Hi Guys,
We have PS6000e with 16 1TB Model:- ST31000524NS Revision:- KD0A. In that one 1 TB HDD is failed and we have spare 1TB Model:- ST1000NM0011 Revision:- PD04.
Is it possible to replace?
Please give suggestion..!

Hello,
Dell only tests certified drives in their arrays. Also depending on the firmware a non Dell drive may not work at all. Low profile drives tend to be better overall. Cooler and better airflow.
So you can try it but it is a risk. Also the performance of that drive might be slower than the others.
Hopefully you are running RAID6?
