Emulex 9802E

We have a Windows 2000 Server SP4 with 2 Emulex HBA's. We were using older drivers, firmware, powerpath, naviagent, etc. We will be migrating to new hardware and new OS (Windows 2003 SP1). Prior to the migration, I installed 2 new Emulex 9802E HBA's into the new server and installed the latest storport drivers. I noticed that the elxcfg.exe utility is no longer installed. How can I configure the HBA's?

    Seanyany,

The Storport driver is only supported with Windows 2003. As you are still running on Windows 2000 then you have to stick with the regular driver until after the upgrade.

Once you do get to W2003 (and install the storport driver) you should have an "Emulex" entry in the start menu and below that "Auto Pilot Installer" - just run that and follow the prompts.

There is a comprehensive guide on the emulex website:

    Hi SeanAny

Just wanted to ask if the upgrade went OK with you. Did you run across any problems?

We have a very similar project going on where I'm working. We have over 500 servers to bring up to level. What was the best way of knowing where to get up to i.e the correct levels?

Did you run host EMC grabs through HEAT ( Heat Environemnt Analysis Tool) or did you wage through all the pages of the Interop Guide Supprt matrix ?

Any advise/ pointers would be appreciated.

I didn't even notice the original date until you mentioned it. I was reading about the new 9802e HBAs and thinking to myself "Someone sold this guy 9802e HBAs and convinced him they were NEW???" *lol*
