"A" lock icon flashing
HELP!!! We bought an Inspiron 1520 a while ago, worked well at first but now it doesn't turn on. Only the "A" padlock flashes when I turn it on, while the other 2 padlock icons are off. The screen is black & after about 15 seconds, it shuts off. Have tried self help videos and nothing works.

Flashing caps lock on old systems like this usually means bad memory or a bad memory socket.
Try one module at a time in each socket until you isolate the bad module or socket. Then replace the module (replacing the mainboard to fix a socket error on a system that's worth about $20 makes no economic sense).
