When I open my laptop lid it beeps 8 times. I know that it is not a LCD problem because after several restarts it goes through an Automatic Repair and I can then restart it, and it works fine.
The problem is neither caused by the CMOS battery because I have replaced it.
The problem happens when I close the lid for a period of time and open the lid again. Then it goes into the same motion of Automatic Repair and Restart. I have to keep the lid always open to use it.
8 beeps means the system doesn't recognize the display panel.
It may simply be a loose connection -- unplug the system, remove the base cover and disconnect the battery from the mainboard. Disconnect the display panel from the mainboard and inspect the connector and cable for damage. If it's damaged, and not a touchscreen system, replace the display harness. If it is a touchscreen system, chances are the harness is integrated into the display assembly itself, which will need to be replaced.
