Hard drive

I have a Dell Inspiron 15-5565 with a broken HDD. I want to replace it with an SDD, but know nothing about hardware. Will someone recommend a suitable SDD, or tell me ALL I NEED TO KNOW to choose one, bearing in mind NOT to use jargon?

Any standard 2.5" SATA SSD will work.

You may need a spacer to install the drive, since most SSDs are significantly slimmer than hard drives:

Thanks! I'll try to find one which otherwise matches the performance of my old HDD.

The better regarded SSD brands are Samsung and Crucial.

As for the spacer, I would just use some double-sided tape from the Dollar Tree store.

Thanks! I I was also thinking of Seagate myself; I'd certainly avoid Toshiba, as they seemed to break down most often for me. P.S. I'm a Scotsman - we don't have Dollar Tree stores here! I think all websites should indicate which country a user is from, unless we deliberately opt not to. It would save an awful lot of time and confusion, given how many things just aren't available in one country that maybe are in another, or are known by a different name.

Here in the USA, the big brand is Samsung. People will pay more for them.

I personally have Crucial and PNY and Samsung in my PCs.
