Tried to install elementary os on my Dell 3179...the installer gave me an error about EFI etc...So I changed the mode to Legacy in BIOS....here the changes were saved...then I tried to reinstall Elementary OS and this time everything went smooth...

The OS runs and everything is perfect except I cannot save changes in my BIOS...I tried re-flashing the BIOS to an earlier version still cannot save anything in BIOS....This is odd.

 

I ran the diagnostics after you press F12...it reported that everything is ok...

 

Can someone tell me what's going on here ? I can still boot from USB after pressing F12....so I can install other OSes and boot them...but I mean How could something like this happen ?
