Yes, it's safe to uninstall / reinstall the battery driver in device manager.

1.Type Device Manager onto the search box, expand Batteries heading

2. Under the Batteries heading, right-click Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall. You might see more than one battery listing.

Note: Please do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.

3. On the Device Manager Taskbar, select Action, and then 'Scan for hardware changes' or reboot the system

Windows will automatically reinstall the battery driver.

If the battery still isn't detected, I suspect the battery need to be reseated to get the computer to detect it again or the battery lifecycle has come to an end and need to be replace with a new one.

1. Power off system. Remove AC adapter from system. Close the display and turn the computer over.

2 Slide the battery-release latches to the unlock position. Lift the battery at an angle and remove battery out of the battery bay.

3 Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to release Static Flea Power. 

4. Replace battery, AC adapter, power on system, hopefully battery is detected again.
