Line-in audio problem

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 7537 with Windows 10 64-bit (with all updates to date). I am unable to hear the line-in audio on my laptop's built-in speaker while I am able to record the same line-in audio using sound recording software Audacity. There is no hardware problem with my laptop's built-in speak (when I play audio files/YouTube it works well). The only problem is the audio received through line-in is not routed to the laptop's speaker.

Thanks for any help!

Do you have Stereo Mix set as the Default "Input" (Recording device)?  If not, that could be the reason.

Me too, same problem with an Inspiron 5379. Can see from the WaveMaxx application and Sound Control Panel/Recording that the soundboard receives the sound, but it doesn't play. I have a desktop PC with Intel motherboard that also uses a Realtek soundboard, but its software has an option to set the input volume for each jack and change each mapping and works perfectly, I don't know why this Dell laptop doesn't have the volume per input and output option as my desktop does.

So, still can't hear line in sound from speakers. Tried to do a Skype call and line in is heard on the other side, but nothing from my speakers. Also, built-in microphone doesn't capture voice when line-in is connected.
