Microsoft Works

I have an older Inspiron Laptop 1525.  I want to intall Microsoft Works on it with the disk that came with it.  I can't do that because it needs internet explorer not Microsoft Edge.  I want to revert to the very first factory version that came with it and see if I can install Works that way.  Is that possible?  Has anyone tried that?

    1. The final version of Microsoft Works is 14 years old. It is insecure and a security risk. I would not use it. 
    2. Instead, I suggest two excellent free office suites: Softmaker FreeOffice and open source LibreOffice. 
    3. If you are set on using Microsoft Works, there are ways to get it to run in Windows 10. Read this tutorial.
    4. Internet Explorer is dead. Microsoft provides no updates so it is a huge security risk. Using Internet Explorer today is asking for your computer to be infected by malware.
    5. Similar to my previous point, older Windows versions are huge security risks, with no security updates. If you intend to connect to the Internet, upgrade your laptop to Windows 10. 
    6. Another alternative is to install a free Linux OS instead of Windows. You would likely find that an OS like Xubuntu, Mint or Puppy would run with better performance on your 14-year-old laptop that Windows would.  FreeOffice and open source LibreOffice both work in Linux or Windows.

    Thanks a lot for responding.  I tried those work arounds but no dice.  My wife wants Works maybe I'll try to talk her into one of those other ones.  Thanks again
