Multitouch broken G5 5587

Hey everyone!

I have a Dell G5 15 5587. For a few monthes, there wasn't any problems. But from today, multitouch gestures stopped working. For example I can still move the cursor, click, drag&drop but I can't right click with two fingers, scroll... All this is on Windows 10, but on Linux (Manjaro i3), it works without problems.

When I go in the Devices Manager, I can see that one I2C device doesn't work :
A request for the HID descriptor failed.

  • I tried to :
  • Reset Windows
  • Clean reinstall Windows with iso
  • Reinstall Intel I/O, Intel HID Event filter and Intel Management Engine drivers
  • BIOS Update
  • SupportAssist
  • sfc /scannow
  • Remove the device then scan devices/reboot

I don't know what I could try anymore, do you have some ideas?

Yes, there was. Yesterday I turned off my computer and today it started working again for no reason so I guess they fixed it

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Thanks for your help!

Was there a recent Windows 10 update?

    I have the same issue.
It come back sometime... and resolved itself later.

The new management of the driver is little boring... with new laptop Dell.

I will just say what I know.

If you want to load the driver, you will need :

    Intel-HID-Event-Filter-Driver_33CDY_WIN_2.2.1.377_A11_04
    Intel-Serial-IO-Driver_RDY6W_WIN_30.100.2020.7_A05

Then, in the device manager, the mousepad have 2 entities in mouse section. Do not try to change it, it will be worst.

I read in the another topic, there is 2 Serial IO in "device management/Systemdevice"

    Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A368
    Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A369

If you disable the A369, the mutliTouch will not work anymore.
If you disable the A368 and keep enable A369, look working... (I hope)

    Hope it will help
