New Drives for better performance
I was told that I could get SSD drives or M.2 drives in order to improve my laptop's performance and to give it more memory. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5379 that I got about 3 years ago. Would anyone happen to recommend which SSD drives and/or M.2 drives would be best or compatible with my laptop so I may give it better performance and more memory?

You can only have 2.5" drives in your system. You do not have the M.2 port on the MB. Also to clear up a confusing point that many others get wrong. Memory is RAM, storage size is for drives. So then Crucial has a number of SSD drives here. But there are many other quality drives such as Samsung, WD Black, Adata XPG and any of those will give you far better performance than an HDD. And a SATA SSD (which is what you are looking for) runs about 5x faster than a mechanical drive and is far more reliable. This video may help and has more information comparing SATA SSD to M.2.
