Screen is flickering as bands on the LCD panel and the flickering place changes every time. A flickering band appears and dissapears random like lightening every now and then. Apart from this, entire screen has very tiny white sparkling dots all the time. These flickering bands and sparkling dots appear even on BIOS screen. But flickering reduced to few occational ones when entered into BIOS. Only few times during the entire On-board Diagnostics process. No issue found by On-board Diagnostics.
Heavy flickring as soon as boot-up started when DELL logo is appeared on the screen.
uninstalled DELL graphics drivers, then tried Intel iRISx drivers and even Windows generic drivers, Problem is still the same. Only workaround found is changing the refresh rate. Changing from 48MHz to 60 and again dropping to 48 minimizes the flicker for few hours or until next boot/wakeup from sleep.
I had this issue with my users Precision 5680. Monitor flashes and had tiny artifacts on the ultra wide screen external monitor. It went away for months. We got her office remodeled, and when I moved her back, the issue came back. Her battery also sometimes goes totally dead and you have to hard reset the laptop, and reset/power cycle dock to get it working again. One USB-C sometimes is not illuminated. I tried:
Issue precisted when:
Tried a different power strip
Power cycle and reset dock
Plugging her into a different outlet in the office
A power conditioner power strip
Updating all software per Dell Command
Replaced her motherboard (twice)
Reimaged
Tried a different performance dock
Tried a different monitor
Other periferials were eliminated (conference speaker, LED light, cell phone USB charger)
Reset BIOS
Power plan adjusted
Refresh rate adjusted
Turned off deep sleep
Disabled fast boot
Uninstalled USB hub driver
Issue did not precist when:
Plugged a 5511 into the dock. User used this as a spare for weeks with no issues.
Tried a similar model laptop on the user dock
Tried the users laptop on a different dock
Plugged the user back into her original dock
Eliminated space heater
Issue went away when:
Rotated the dock USBC cables 180 degrees
Simply docked a different PC, then docked the users PC

Hello,
That is usually caused by a graphics driver issue Troubleshoot screen flickering in Windows if these steps do not help replace the lcd display assembly.
