Been trying to update from BIOS 1.11.1,11/11/2019 to 1.11.1,12/27/2019 to get the new G Key in Alienware OC. I bought my G7 7790, with i7 9750h and RTX2060, from Dell, in September of 2019. After a month of back-and-forth with tech support they finally just stated that my laptop doesn’t support G Key. I’ve heard people on the forums talk about using this feature, that purchased one before I did. Is tech support lying?!
In the private thread you said that the keyboard with the G-Key is an option. Again you’re lying. There is no mention on Dells website of the G-Key, except in Support and Drivers, not once listed in purchasing pages. The 7790 I bought was $1700. It’s has the 4 Zone RGB keyboard. How could it not come with the G Key?!?!
I've checked and checked again. The $1100 G3 comes with the G key. It runs same processor and weaker graphics. It's also the low end offering from Dell. The G7 is the high end. There should be no reason that it isn't equipped.
Oh yes. I read the thread. OCC on my laptop only controls fans and switches from Balanced power mode to High Performance. The G Key on the G Series laptops only switches to HiPerf and sets fans to Max. It’s essentially a shortcut key so changes don’t have to made in OCC or Power Manager. My concern is that my model of laptop is fully spec-ed with the exception of the 2060 graphics. It costs almost twice as much as other G series laptops that came with this G Key feature. Being I purchased it after the implementation of said G key it seems odd mine did not include it. No one at Dell seems to have an answer for me. I’ve been told it’s an option that I didn’t select, but the only options on keyboard is rgb or no rgb. I got the rgb and is the highest keyboard offered. Also the G7 is the high end. I’ve seen videos of G3’s G5’s and G7’s with G key. As much as I payed for the machine I’d hope they gave me what I payed for and not older parts. Sorry if I seemed short in the prior correspondence. This has been going on over a month. I hope they update the Bios so any of these machines can utilize the G Key even if the F7 doesn’t have a G on it.
After the recent update I am not able to use G Mode what they call is Turbo Mode!. Also the System Overheats a lot and Now silly error like Brightness buttons are not working even after updating these drives. I Mean We already spent a Lakhs of rupees to get this Wholesome system and now it is making me regret!. Is it seriously a waste of Money?

I must admit I had no clue what G Key is.
I had to Google.
And I still have no clue because Google gave me nothing useful.
