Upgrade - RAM

Hi,

I would like to ask if I can upgrade my current RAM (SK Hynix, DDR4 8GB 2400) to Crucial DDR4 16GB 2666 for my Inspiron 13-5378 laptop?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dell Community @AJohnny_18

Not 100% sure if you could just add the 16GB for a total of 24GB.

The CPU's for that laptop should support it.

You would then have the single 8GB and the first 8GB of the 16GB as "Dual Channel"

The remanding 8GB of the 16GB stick would run in "Single Channel"

Or you could also purchase a matching 8GB SK Hynix like the one you have installed.

    Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 Service Manual:

    Best regards,

The system will take 2X8 =16 G total.

If the current RAM is running at 2400 (or lower), the new RAM will run at the same speed -- though you can install faster RAM, the speed at which the memory runs is controlled by the CPU (which cannot be changed).
