add webcam to E5440?

I have a Lattitude E5440

I would like to add a webcam to it.  I have the PNs for the camera and the screen bezel needed.

I just don't know where it plugs into the Motherboard.

I am confident and competent.  Recently I changed to a backlit keyboard with a trackpoint on this same unit by switching out both the keyboard and the top chassis.

Any guidance would or links would be greatly appreciated.

    The cable is usually part of the display panel wiring harness, not a separate plug-in.

    The one you need may also be dependent on the screen resolution - try contacting parts-people for the correct part.

    @U2CAMEB4ME thanks so much!  Would the LCD cable be the same as the camera cable though? - or you're saying they plug into the same general area.

    I've tried a couple of cheap usb web cams to no avail - i use Ubuntu as my OS and I haven't found one that agrees with it yet.  I'm hoping a stock one does.

    I figured I've already replaced the keyboard and top chassis, so I might as well dive in  and replace the camera.

    Thanks again for your  help!

    @mook_

    The camera connection is part of the LCD cable.

    If you look at the pictures you can see the one that has the extended camera cable.

    If you also watch the video you will see that you must disassemble the laptop and display assemble.

    Not an easy task.

    Regards,

    U2

    @U2CAMEB4ME THX!  I've replaced displays before - I am not faint of heart and I even get to break out my spiffy reading glasses!

    I don't understand why you would go around buying webcams at random when you know you need one that works with Linux. Is using Google that hard?

    @nyc10036  smart aleck

    I wasn't looking to get heckled from my question which i thought was pretty straight forward.

    Actually I've tried 2 different "linux compatible" usb cameras that did not work after hours of researching Google searches.

    I actually dual boot - so I have windows 10 on the other partition.  I do not want a usb cam that hangs of the top of my laptop.

    Thanks again for your curt response.
