I have a Latitude 5400 that after a Windows update won't boot to Windows 10. The normal solution is to update the bios and that 95% solves the problem. The other 5% involves downgrading the bios version.

But on this machine, I can't get the bios to update, at all. As normal, I go F12 at boot up and select Bios Flash Update. It shows that it has version 1.6.5 installed. I select the bios update 1.10.1 for that model on my usb key. I begin the flash update. I get the warning and select yes. I get the normal message 'Please wait while the update is processed. blah blah blah.'

It stops there. It sits there while the fan is running.

I have tried step upgrading to 1.7.4. I have tried downgrading to 1.5.4. Same thing happens.

Can anyone offer a solution?
