Expert advice needed - please!

I have a Latitude E7470, which is set up just the way I like it. I've now bought a used 7470, to have as a spare.

What I'd like to do is to make the spare 7470 exactly the same as the original 7470, as the specs are identical.

If I make a Macrium Reflect image of my 1st 7470 & restore/copy that image to the 2nd 7470, would that work? I realise the Win product key will be different, & possible some drivers also.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks for any advice, and kind regards, Niloc1017

It may or may not work, depending on how similar the two systems are -- and at minimum, you'll be calling Microsoft, since Windows activation will break if you restore an image made on one system to the other.

    Hello Colin,

the Macrium Reflect image will work perfectly. W10/11 or Dell Support Assist will grab the drivers from the internet. If both laptops have a valid W10/11 (pro or home) the activation will be fine.

Hi ejn63 - many thanks for that excellent advice. Without that, I might well have tried to restore an image from one 7470 to the other. Kind regards, Niloc2017
