Latitude 5420 Caps Lock light on continuously
Hi all. I have just had my work laptop replaced with a new Latitude 5420. After using this for a couple of days, I noticed the Caps Lock light was on continuously. It didn't matter if I pressed it, or any other key or a combination of kets, that Caps Lock light stayed on. The only way to get it to turn off was by rebooting the laptop. However, even that was a short term fix, as the light comes back on permenantly after several hours.
So my I.T. department sent me another NEW 5420. That worked fine for 2 days and now I have exactly the same problem. I can't believe two new out the box laptops could be faulty, surely?
My IT guys haven't a clue what might be causing this. To be clear, the only thing connected to both laptops was the power supply, nothing else.
I have tried searching for similar faults, and there appear to be some that are similar, but I cannot find a single fix recommended for this. I write up a lot of documents every day, and not knowing if I am in upper or lower case is frustrating...especially when I am 3 or 4 sentences into something only to realise it is all in upper case. Thanks

That's usually caused by a slight tap on the caps lock key when typing the A key. Try disabling the lock key in the Keyboard Settings so it cannot be turned on. Heavy handed typists will have this problem. I have to keep the lock key disabled. You still are able to use the shift key when typing of course.
