Touch Pad freeze
Hi,
I have a Latitude 5400 its all upto date (runs Win` 10) every now and then the Touchpad freezes cannot move cursor. I can how ever work/use the Little tracker ball in the middle and get the laptop to restart using this......its a pain. I`ve had this problem for a while. Like I said its all upto date (bios etc and all windows updates).
I know it not life and death but when it does freeze its a right pain................
If you can help, many thanks

Well it has but only since/after I started having this problem. The reason why machine was opened was a different reason. In fact seems to have gone better since this repair (screen damage). It could have been some software bug?? as it seems to have gone away and if it does happen its only 2-3 seconds if that, so ok to work with. If it was something to do with the `palmrest`maybe with the repair and the need to open the machine it has solved the problem but what ever it is its worked.

Per Dell-Cares, please make sure the Firmware update for the 5400 was downloaded and installed from this link.
Brad L (retired)I`ve been happy with the performance for my needs so that was never an issue I have 16GB of ram so that helps. It was a bigger upgrade from an old win 7 celeron machine. I dont need fast games graphics card speed.
But my fault/issue seems to have been resolved now after the recent firmware and windows updates. So fingers crossed

For me only replacing the palmrest solved the problem.

No I`m still using same battery and charger I got with the laptop. It was a new battery and charger all new/boxed up never been used before. Im looking at Touchpad settings as I read about this could be the problem
