Fedora 7 (Not seeing CD Drive)?

Ok, here is something odd.
When I place and boot from the Fedora 7 DVD, it gets all the way to the blue screen asking for language, etc.
It then proceeds to ask where the package to be installed are located?????

It asks if I want to pick a driver, and none on the list work.
Is there a "driver disk" somewhere for my Inspiron 1720 I can use so it reads the DVD?

I resolved this by simply letting it ask where the media is, plugging it into an Ethernet cable with internet access telling it to grab media from FTP and giving it this info.

    server: mirrors.usc.edu
    path: pub/linux/distributions/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/i386/os

I've the same problem, which is a showstopper. Seems to be a problem in the ata_piix in conncection with the ICH8, AFAIK. Installing Fedora 7 is possible via additional network download options. Fetch nearest FTP for example and enter directory holding the stage2.img. Path will be something like: fedora/releases/7/Fedora/i386/os/images Upgrade to current kernel etc. done. However, problem persists. Does enyone has an idea how to fix this with FC7? Thank you, Aron LapTop-Spec: D830 Latitude, Custom: T7500 2.2GHz 4MB-Cache 800MHz FSB, 2GB Memory, DVD+/-, IntelGMA-Chipset, UXGA.

I have the same problem traing install Fedora 7 on Inspiron 1420.
This problem is actually in "NEEDINFO" status and "HIGH" priority: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242956

It seems to be a kernel issue with the "Pioner cd/DVD -+ RW drives".

The Fedora 8 Test 2 dosent fix this problem too, so is urgen to fix this issue before the final release of Fedora 8 on november.

    In the other hand, Linux.Dell.com:
make a Remastering version of Ubuntu 7.04, that solve this an other problems (wifi, broadband etc etc), but im a FEDORA Proud User so, i want to whait until the Fedora 8 Release apears to try install Fedora on my inspiron 1420. :)
