Right now, even if you buy a machine with Windows XP and use Linux, there's no problems with the hardware guarantee. That is, you can use any operating system you want, as long as it doesn't -directly- affect your hardware. Say your keyboard broke. There's no reason to say that it was because you were using Linux, so it doesn't matter.
