Area-51/Aurora Now Supporting 1866 Memory

Is anyone running the 1866 memory in there Area-51 system?

I have been running Corsair Dominator GT 1600 memory in my Area-51 System. Last week one stick went bad. I sent it back and found out today they no longer sell the CMG6GX3M3A1600C7 so they are going to upgrade me to the CMT6GX3M3A1866C9. I have OC'd my 1600 to 1866 before but didnt run the system for that long at that speed. All i can say for sure is it did boot up and I was able to run the WEI with it at that speed. I'm looking for people that have used the 1866 in there Alienware system.

    UPDATE:

Looks like both the Area-51 and Aurora are now supporting 1866 memory. You can only BUY the 1866 on the ALX models but you can always buy the cheap Dell memory and then replace it with a brand name of your choice. The Area-51 and the Area-51 ALX use the same Mobo so the memory will work. The Aurora must be running the X58 board to use the 1866. If you have the P55 board it will not support it.

    Memory specs for X58 boards:

    • 12GB Triple-Channel 1333MHz DDR3
    • 6GB Triple- Channel 1866MHz DDR3
    • 6GB, 12GB Triple-Channel 1600MHz DDR3

I am very happy that Dell now supports the 1866 (PC3-15000)

Nice! Do you know if its okey to mix rams that have different speed? I currently have 3GB of 1333mhz on my aurora and planning to get 3 GB of 1866mhz. I can only afford 3GB of 1866mhz ram right now.

Never mind...i just searched and read that its no good to mix ram cuz it will downclock the ram with the slowest sticks. Is it also true that when using all dimms will affect performace? Say for example i want to run 6 GB ram....its better to get it in three 2 GB sticks and just use the 3 dimms as oppose to six 1 GB sticks and using all dimms?

Did you had to do anything to get it at 1866?
