ATI Radeon hd mobility 5850 max resolution?

I have an Alienware M15X with an ATI radeon hd mobility 5850.
I read online that the max resolution for this card is 2560x1600.

I connected an external 4K display to the laptop, and made it the only display (reading somewhere that if you show both displays, the max resolution would be the lowest one of the connected screens), but the highest resolution available is still 1920x1080.

I am using Windows 10 with an HDMI 1.4 cable (with the connector that arrived with the laptop from the display video port to HDMI).

I was wondering how to unlock higher resolution so I can view my computer with all it's glory?

Thanx for the help!

I don't have a laptop with a AMD card in it right now but I know this works in NVidia.

    Open up CCC.

    Select resolution.

Check and see if there is an option to "Customize" the resolution size, NVidia control panel has a "customize" button just below the drop down menu for changing screen res, I don't see why CCC wont have the same feature - Somewhere....
