My PCI and Hard drive fans just started running wide open all the time shortly after Windows 8.1 update. They respond to manual control but when on auto they run at 100%. I uninstalled the Command Center Controls, removed the registry keys, rebooted and installed the latest Command Center package from the web and the problem persisted. Thinking it was a Windows 8.1 error I reset to the factory Windows 7 build that originally came on the computer and it seemed to work correctly for a day or so and is now running the fans wide open again. The ePSA diagnostics check out and all the fans past diagnostic testing. All temperature readings say 77 degrees F and it states the cooling pump is running. I'm seeing alot of info about faulty master I/O boards possibly being the culprit. Anyone have any experience with this issue before I jump through tech support. I work overnights and can't troubleshoot on the phone with a rep until next week.

Hi, I have the same problem here, mine is Aurora ALX.
It shouldn't be the OS problem, as the fan keeps run at 100% during the OS installing process!
The only way to "fix" this problem is set thermal control in CC as Manual. Let me know if you find any new solutions.
I just spent an hour with tech support. They were fast and friendly and had me go through the process of uninstalling Command Center and a Power Dissipation reset. This has fixed the problem. However....... I had already done the same process once and it worked then too. The trouble is it started running the fans wide open again the next morning. They stated they don't think its my Master I/O board because the AlienFX controls and manual fan control is functioning. My sensors read a flat 75 degrees F across the board no matter the load on my PC when the fans are at 100%. I hope this took care of it. My warranty is out in a few months and I want this taken care of before then.

Try Manual then setup a reasonable Curve.

- Click "Mark as Accepted Answer" on any post that answers your question best.I just got a new Aurora R4 this week myself, and it had the same problem. Doing a search, I read to remove the Alienware Command software, reboot the system, and then reload it, which I did w/o any success.
Later, going through Tech Support, they said to make sure that it is TOTALLY removed. They remotely took over my system and loaded a program called Revo Uninstaller Pro, in order to make sure ALL the files are removed that are associated w/the Alienware Command software. I would imagine that cleans the Registry as well. They then shut the system down, where they had me unplug the power cord, and then had me press the power button in for about 30 seconds, replug the power cord back in, and power back up. Once back in Windows, they had me reload the Alienware Command Software.
Now in my case, nothing changed, because it was later determine that there was a problem w/my motherboard, because there were other issues, but in your case, it may be simply the software, so following the procedure, as they did w/my system, may help you.

I got the same problem with my Alien Aurora R4 using Windows 8.1 and A10 BIOS version.
Impossible to set up fans speed by using auto mode. 2 fans running at 100% while temperature are at a low level.(PCI and Hard Drives fans)
I have fixed that problem by uninstalling my 'Command Center' program, downloading the special windows 8.1 'Command Center' here :

I downloaded the file called App_NT_AWCC305010_W8_W81_W7_Setup_P1K0M_ZPE.exe available since December 2nd 2013.
and I restarted my PC after installing the new Command Center program.
Now, all is OK : Fans are runing with a low speed by using the auto mode.
