Keyboard Lag :(
Hey guys, I am new here so I am sorry if this question has been answered or whatever...
I have an Alienware M17x R3, and everything runs perfectly. I
can play all my games fine, including Crysis and Black Ops. I was
playing Crysis one day, when I noticed that my keys seemed like they
were lagging. It got so bad, that it would take 1-2 seconds to respond
to the W key, and my character would continue walking as if I held down
the W key for at least another 1-2 seconds. That then made typing really
hard. I installed the latest drivers for everything (that dell had on
the support section) I have also noticed that the problem gets worse and worse the more I use the keyboard. In first person shooters, I can walk, but while I am doing that, the mouse stops working and no other keys work.
I found that restarting my laptop would stop
the lag for a bit. I could play Crysis for about 5 minutes, then I would notice
the lag. This also happens for less graphics-intensive games like
Oblivion, and even Minecraft. I have searched for a solution for days
now, and I don't know what to do. My laptop is out of warranty, and I
don't want to send it away.

If you have an R3 I can't see how it could be out of warranty seeing as it was only released a few months ago. All I can say is that I have an R2. I'm on my 2nd keyboard and am experiencing exactly the same thing as you. Typing is a nightmare due to this lag. Characters get missed regularly and I find myself double checking everything I type.
If there's a way to solve keybord lag I would love toknow about it. If not, it would appear we are doomed because it seems clear to me that this is a characteristic of these keyboards.

I don't have a laptop but my desktop had a similar problem some time ago. My issue seemd to come from Adobe Reader that was causing the system to lag.
I also experienced some issues with Java. I resolved the lag problem by unistalling Java completely and then reinstalling Adobe Reader. My system has worked fine since then.

No, I dont mean Dell online. Dell Outlet is where they sell refurbished PC's.
Unless it's a refurbished unit, all Dell PC's come with a minimum 1 year guarantee and as the R3 was only released earlier this year your machine should be under guarantee. If it isn't then I can only assume you have a refurbished unit or an R2.
Oh okay. Yeah, I went on to the Dell Service section of Dell's site, and I went to find by Service Tag, and it said that it is an R3, yet the warranty has expired.
And I have heard that Alienware know about this problem and are apparently working on a fix?

Not the same problem then because I get keyboard lag all the time. Button pressing won't put any strain on your laptop. If I were you I would call tech support.

That last sentence is a perfect example. The 'a' didn't take in the word keyboard. Neither did the space between the words 'to know'.
