Upgrading My Alienware M17x R4
Hello all,
I am currently looking to upgrade my graphics card to a Geforce GTX 980, This is my first gaming PC and my first time attempting to upgrade a piece of hardware, I need a little guidance on what I should look for when shopping for a card, and what is the best way to have the card installed and any other helpful tips that you have to offer would be great.
Thanks for your time!

Hello, thanks for the quick response,
What is the highest upgrade option for my laptop
?
My current gaphics card is a Nvidia GTX 680m
Not validated, here we go again. Dells automated response to someone upgrading their Alienware.
Not to be rude but - Ignore that.
Go to notebook review website and do a search, Alienware enthusiasts have numerous discussions there about GTX980M what you can an can't do.
I'm pretty sure you can, if you have 3D LCD you will lose that function but not the 120Hz ability

Hello,
The Nvidia GTX 980M graphics card is not a validated upgrade option for the Alienware M17x R4 system. Therefore, we cannot confirm that it will work properly. However, some of our customers have managed to do this upgrade with success, click here to view another thread for more information about this.
