BIOS failure

Dimension 4400 with WIN 2000 added Adaptec DuoConnect AUA-3020 PCI with USB2.0 and IEEE 1394 connections.  Cannot get drivers to operate.  System has BIOS A04 - Adaptec says must have A06.  Have spent 2 hours with Dell tech support downloading and making bootable floppy.  When restart get error message "NTLDR is missing"  Cannot get BIOS update to enter.  Help.  Thanks

Make sure you have download the A06 BIOS version that creates it's own bootable floppy disk.  That version can be found here at this link.  Make sure your floppy drive is listed as the first boot device in the Boot Order of the BIOS Setup. Once the file is downloaded to your hard drive just run the file and it will prompt you into creating a bootable BIOS upgrade floppy disk.  Once the disk is created then just reboot your machine with the floppy still in the floppy drive and the BIOS upgrade program will then run and prompt you for updating the BIOS.

Since the floppy should boot to DOS, you should not be getter the NTLDR error message, since that is part of Windows. My conclusion is that you have not correctly made the DOS bootable floppy for upgrading the BIOS or that your BIOS is not set to boot to the floppy drive drive first.
