Bios Problem? Details Inside

Hi everyone... i dont know if any of you have expirience with asus p4p800-vm motherboards and/or thier bios' but i have one question.  When i boot up it comes to a screen saying time and date are not right or something but when i go into the bios to set them and save and exit, it will reboot with the same problem. I can "load defaults" by pressing f2 but then i have to reset the system clock.  The Clear CMOS jumper is in the default position and i replaced the batery from my original Dimm 3000 motherboard to no avail.  One more wrench in the works, this isnt the original bios version.  Right away when i installed the motherboard i upgraded to the newest non-beta version of the bios.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A few things to try......  first, make sure the battery is correctly inserted into the socket with respect to positive and negative and that it is making good contact in its socket.  Secondly, make sure the CMOS jumper block is mounted on the correct pins for the normal position.  It wouldn't be the first time the block was on the wrong pins.  Thirdly, try flashing the BIOS back to an earlier version.  Fourthly,  if this is the first time this motherboard was in use and you experienced the problem then also consider the possibility the board is faulty.

Ok... I flashed to a earlier bios to no avail.  I am going to double check the battery and the jumper one more time as i have before.  I got the motherboard used off ebay so I really dont know if it is the board going bad or what.... hopefully not.  It really isnt that big of a problem except the fact everytime the computer starts i have to redo the clock and date, and one more thing... i am puting an agp graphics card in it and hopefully it doesnt keep resetting the parimaters for that as well.

Will get back to you on the whole battery and jumper thing.

    thanks

Hi, im back... I checked the voltage on the battery and read 3v like its supposed to, the jumper is set to default per both the board markings and manual, and i flashed the bios to an earlier version using Asus' ez flash method although i will try it again using the afdos method, maybe being in dos will help.  I did notice one thing that was wierd besides the time resetting, I have a p4 prescott 3.0 that has a fsb of 800 but upon looking it up with CPU-Z it says my FSB is 199.5 and my "bus speed" is 798, right where it needs to be but on the memory tab, it says thier frequency is 199.5?!?!  This may be because of the bios messing up but who knows.. on ebay there is an auction for cmos chips maybe i should invest in one of those?  Any info will help me out alot.

    Thanks

A couple of things.... a voltage test of a battery isn't the most accurate.  You need to load test the battery to be sure.  For $3 I would just try installing a new battery.  It's a cheap item to rule out as the cause.  As for the FSB, if the motherboard is like some Dell systems then the FSB is "quad" pumped.  In otherwords the 199.5 x 4 = 798.   The .5 difference maybe with the CPU - Z utility.

Hi everyone... i finally broke down and got a new battery, still didnt work.  but when i reflashed the bios using afudos from asus in DOS, it started up great and no more problems with the cmos.  It must have something to do with asus' ez flash.  Anyways, about the frequency, it does have a multiplier but i thought that pc3200 were supposed to run at 400 mhz?
