Cannot get bios upgrade to work

I have recently purchased a new video card and I was told that updating my bios might be a good idea. I downloaded the upgrade and followed the floppy boot instructions. I then recieve a invalid system disk error. I checked my boot sequence and it was correct. So I emailed dell and they told me to install the file on my c drive and use the run in the start menu to run it. I did so and all I get is a blank dos screen that does nothing. I have waited 3 days for another response from them and I am tired of waiting! I do not want to turn this into a bashing session but I am discouraged about thier customer service of late. So can anyone help cause they are not.

Which system model do you have?  Which file did you download?

Go back to the download site and download the file B4400_06.exe.  Run this file from the location that you downloaded to.  It will prompt you to insert a blank formatted floppy disk in the a: drive (use a brand new disk).  It will then create a DOS bootable floppy disk with the BIOS upgrade program on it.  Make sure that your BIOS is set to boot from the floppy drive as the first boot device, then reboot the computer with the floppy disk you just created in the a: drive.  It will boot to DOS and prompt you to flash the BIOS to the new version.
