Can't Open Dimension 4400 Case

Hi:

I'm trying to open the case on a Dimension 4400, and I'm having difficulty doing so.

I've followed Dell's instructions for how to open the case, and the button on the bottom of the case will not unlatch. Has anyone else run into this kind of problem with a similar Dell case, and what is the solution (without destroying the case)?

Much thanks in advance,

Here's how I've dealt with stuck clamshell cases.

Orient the chassis so that it is laying on it's side, with the locking tabs up & the back of the computer facing away from you.

Press DOWN on the chassis corners near the release buttons, then press both releases at the same time.

While holding the buttons in, jerk the clamshell upward a couple inches, it usually opens.

I ran into one, that one side would never release, I opened the side that would, & ended up using a flat-blade screwdriver to release the tab on the stuck side.  Someone had bent the release tab on that side previously.

What I've done with a clam-shell case that won't open, is to hold the case together at back seam, then try the two release buttons

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it when I get home from work today.

Somehow, I just knew I'd end up having to use a screwdriver at some point. Wish me luck in not wrecking the case :smileyindifferent:

    Thanks,
